What Is Roof Waterproofing and Heatproofing?

Roof waterproofing means protecting the roof from water leakage. It stops rainwater from entering the building. Heatproofing means stopping heat from coming inside through the roof. Both problems are serious in Bangladesh, especially during monsoon season and summer.

Roof Waterproofing Application Process

Proper application is crucial for long-lasting results which determine 80% of services' long-term performance. Step 1: Surface Cleaning

First we remove all dust, dirt, oil, algae, and loose paint. Then we use a stiff brush or pressure washer. A clean surface ensures the coating bonds properly. This step is the foundation of good waterproofing.

Step 2: Crack Repair

After the first step, we start by filling every crack, hole, and joint with a suitable repair mortar or sealant. Large cracks wider than 2mm must be filled before coating. This prevents water from entering through gaps.

Step 3: Priming

Then we apply a primer coat to improve adhesion. And allow the primer to dry fully before the next step. As we know that, good adhesion ensures the waterproofing membrane stays bonded for years.

Step 4: First Coat Application

After surface preparation we apply the first coat of D-Seal Ultra Cool Coat A200 using a brush or roller. We use a brush for edges, corners, and parapets. Also, we use a roller for the main roof area to allow it to dry for 4 to 6 hours.

Step 5: Mesh Reinforcement

We embed a fibreglass mesh on joints, drain outlets, and parapet wall junctions while the first coat is still wet. This gives extra strength to high-stress areas.

Step 6: Final Coat and Inspection

After applying the final coat in a direction straight to the first coat. This process allows the floor to dry for at least 24 hours before exposure to rain. The final surface should be smooth, uniform, and white in colour.
